NEW MEMBER INTAKE PROCESS

  1. Prospects respond by coming to the altar during “call to discipleship”

  2. Altar workers

    1. Inquire as to why they have responded and respond accordingly:

      1. Accepting Christ for first time

        1. Take them thru confession of faith (Romans 10:9-10)

        2. 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

      2. Rededicating/Recommiting their life Christ

        1. The act of rededication means to humble yourself, confess your sin to the Lord, and return to God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and being.

        2. If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14, NIV)

        3. The first act of rededication is to confess your sins to the Lord, Jesus Christ: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”  (1 John 1:9, NIV)

        4. Suggested prayer of rededication:

          1. Dear Lord, I humble myself before you and confess my sin. I want to thank you for hearing my prayer and helping me return to you. I return now to you, the Bible, and your Word. I pray for guidance as I listen for your voice. Let me return to what is most important—you. Help my attitude to change so that instead of focusing on others and events to meet my needs, I can turn to you and find the love, purpose, and direction I seek. Help me to seek you first. Let my relationship with you be the most important thing in my life.  Thank you, Jesus, for helping me, loving me, and showing me the way. Thank you for new mercies, for forgiving me. I rededicate myself to you wholly. I surrender my will to your will. I give you back control of my life.

      3. A Believer, but wish to join The Streams Church

        1. Welcome them to their new church home

        2. Dear Lord, we give thanks that [new member name or names] has chosen to start this new phase in [his/her/their] life journey. We pray that [he/she/they] will, with your help and guidance, grow in love and strength here at The Streams Church. Please watch over them, protect them and strengthen their faith as we grow together in Christ.  Show them your purpose and plan and their place in this body of believers, in Jesus name.  Amen.

    2. How to Pray for respondents

      1. Be clear on what you’re praying about concerning the respondent.

      2. As for specific prayer needs.

      3. Be led of Holy Spirit, however, use wisdom and discernment as to how to connect in prayer.  Holding the persons’s hands or laying your hand on their shoulder while praying is safe.  If you feel led to anoint them with oil and lay hands on their head, ask permission first unless the Holy Spirit is already moving on them and the Holy Spirit gives permission.  This is new to many people and it’s important to use wisdom in how you handle.

  3. After you’ve ministered at the altar with the respondent

    1. Ask them to sit on the front pew until the call is completed.

    2. The pastor or minister giving the call will give instructions for respondents to follow the altar workers out for a brief sharing time.  This will be done before formal benediction.

    3. Allow the respondent to retrieve their purse, coat, etc. before leaving.

  4. What to do in the Briefing Room

    1. Pray with the respondents

    2. Give a Connect Card to each respondent

    3. Explain how to complete (including “Next Steps” on reverse side)

    4. Share briefly the next steps

    5. Care Coach will be contacting them within the next 7 days

    6. Review their cards for readability and fill in any missing information

    7. Pray and dismiss
